Registered training Organisations

A Registered Training Organisation (RTO) in Australia is an institution approved by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) to deliver nationally recognized training and qualifications in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector.

There are about 4,000 RTOs in Australia, and they play a crucial role in providing practical skills and knowledge to students, helping them enter the workforce, upskill, or pursue higher education

RTOs in Australia are recognised as providers of quality-assured and nationally recognised training. They include both government (state or territory) or privately owned organisations like TAFE institutes, private institutions, community providers, schools, higher education institutions, industry organisations and enterprises.

RTOs are the only organizations authorized to:

  • Deliver and assess nationally recognized training.
  • Issue nationally recognized qualifications and statements of attainment.
  • Apply for government funding to provide VET services.

RTOs can offer qualifications at the following levels:

  • Certificates I, II, III and IV
  • Diploma
  • Advanced Diploma
  • Vocational Graduate Certificate
